Welcome to Our Public Blog!!!

CONTEXT --  Many of Howard University's degree programs do not receive the funding required for them to achieve desired levels of excellence. On the other hand, the University's resources have been severely strained by the Great Recession. The Commission was convened by President Ribeau in October 2009. It was tasked to examine all of the University's 173 degree programs and to make recommendations by the end of September as to how the University might reallocate its limited resources.

The Commission will assess each program with respect to six criteria:  (1) Tie to the University's mission/vision (2) Academic quality (3) Research (4) Academic centrality and necessity (5) Enrollment and (6) Sustainability. The Commission's 54 members are divided into four Working Groups for undergraduate programs, health sciences programs, professional programs not in health sciences, and graduate academic programs.

HOW TO SUBMIT COMMENTS --This section is being reconfigured. We sincerely appreciate the visitors who took the time to share their ideas with us in previous months -- despite the fact that the "comments" feature for a Google blog has a number of deficiencies, the most significant being its inability to thread visitors' comments into conversations.  We have therefore removed the comments feature temporarily.

Meanwhile, please send your comments to PCAR.Comments@gmail.com
... Your comments will be archived, then added as initial entries on the new forum.
... So far, comments have been received from Ramamoorthy, Etienne, Franks, Jackson, Harris, Smart, Domning, Koger, Anonymous (5), Lee, Deidre, Senu-Oke, McLendon, Osei, Lawson,  James ...

Within the not-too-distant future, we intend to implement a discussion forum linked to this page that uses alternative technologies that will enable members of the Howard community to make contributions without having to have Google accounts, but will also enable them to follow up on threads of previous contributions, i.e., to engage in conversations. Previously submitted comments will be archived, then added as initial entries on the new forum.

Thank you for your continued interest in and support for the PCAR process!!! ... :-)
